On October 14, an economics dictation was held across Russia. Ural State University of Economics (USUE) became the main regional venue in the Middle Urals. The university brought together over 14 500 participants.
In 2025, the economic dictation became larger than ever. USUE attracted 14 565 participants. This is an all-time record for the foreign economic activity in the region.
In the Ural region, students from 37 countries, including the CIS, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, took part in the event. Of the total number of participants, 5 918 were high school ninth- and eleventh-graders and college students, and 8 647 were university students, faculty staff, specialists, experts, business representatives, and government officials.
“This year’s event proceeded in a positive way. Significant organizational preparations preceded it. This year, the number of schools, technical schools, and universities participating in the event at USUE has increased. Furthermore, the number of businesses taking part in the dictation in the Ural region has also increased. The initial target was 8 000 people. I believe this event needs to be continued and further expanded. It is of great importance both for the region and for the entire Russia,” emphasized Svetlana Pyankova, vice president of the Ural Branch of the Free Economic Society of Russia, Doctor of Economics, and professor at the USUE Department of Regional and Municipal Economics and Management.

Russians were not the only ones answering economic questions. The sites were also operating in 11 foreign countries: Belarus, Mongolia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Syria, China, and Argentina.
The participants in the economic dictation tested their literacy on the event’s website, both individually and at regional sites. Over 1300 such sites were set up across Russia.
The Free Economic Society of Russia has been conducting the All-Russia Economic Dictation since 2017. In 2024, 392 456 people tested their economic literacy. The All-Russian Economic Assembly will announce the 2025 results for the entire country on November 11 – Economist’s Day.
