From Manchuria to Ural!

A delegation from the Chinese province of Heilongjiang arrived at USUE. During the visit, Ural State University of Economics and the Mudanjiang Normal University (MNU) signed a cooperation agreement.

The delegation included director of the Provincial Department of Education, Chen Yanliang, director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges at the Provincial Department of Education, Wang Shaosong, and rector of Mudanjiang Normal University, Li Chunjiang. The Chinese side is interested in ensuring that as many Chinese students as possible can receive education in Russia.

“USUE is one of those Ural universities that can provide students with a full range of educational programs from college to doctoral studies,” Roman Krasnov, USUE acting rector, explained to the guests. “In addition, international students can enter the Preparatory Faculty: there they study both the Russian language and the culture and history of Russia. Having a certificate of the USUE Preparatory Faculty, foreigners are well-positioned to get Russian education.”

The acting rector noted USUE cooperates with 142 other universities around the world and today students from 68 countries study at Ural State University of Economics.

“Cooperation is actively developing between Russia and China in the spheres of economy, culture and education. President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping signed an agreement in March 2022 that further strengthened our friendship,” Chen Yanliang, director of the Department of Education of Heilongjiang Province said, “and today we are creating the ground for its implementation.”

The parties signed a cooperation agreement between USUE and Mudanjiang Normal University, which would ensure academic mobility and mutual participation in science-intensive processes of the two universities. During the meeting, the representatives of universities discussed the setting of a joint educational program, within which students from the PRC will do bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate studies at USUE in the areas related to economics and tourism. The rector of the Chinese University, Li Chunjiang, noted that he visited USUE and Yekaterinburg for the first time. However, here he feels a warm, friendly attitude on the part of both the university administration and students.

Mudanjiang Normal University is one of the leading educational institutions in northeast China. It was founded in 1958. In 2009, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China awarded it the title of “One of the best universities in China in education proficiency.” About 20,000 students study at MNU and the university faculty amounts to about 1,200 teachers, including over 280 professors.
