Maples bring countries closer

Students of both Russian and foreign universities, as well as diplomats from over thirty countries, met near Ural State University of Economics to plant a maple alley. They held this event as part of the Eurasian Economic Youth Forum for the first time. It received a symbolic name - The Tree of Friendship.

The opening of the EEYF alley could be watched online. Representatives of all six international venues of XII EEYF - co-organizers joined the broadcast: St. Petersburg State University of Economics, Belarusian State University of Economics, Azerbaijan State University of Economics, M. Ryskulbekov Kyrgyz Economic University, as well as the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University and the Tajik National University.

USUE rector Yakov Silin welcomed the audience: “Dear friends and colleagues, we have gathered on the territory of Ural State University of Economics to plant ‘trees of friendship’ as a sign of good intentions and a promising outlook. Every year, the number of participants of the Eurasian Economic Youth Forum grows. All of them are involved in a great noble cause for future generations living in different countries.”

Delegations from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and South Ossetia, who came to USUE, as well as the staff of Ural State University of Economics and guests of honor from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky got down to plant the EEYF alley. Someone held a young plant, and someone covered its roots with soil.

Having laid out the Tree of Friendship alley, the USUE guests and staff welcomed everyone who took part in the event at the EEYF sites in other cities. By the way, today, trees were also planted there. Just as in Yekaterinburg, “trees of friendship” - 13 Norway maples - will grow in St. Petersburg, Minsk, Baku, Bishkek, Astana, and Dushanbe.

Within the framework of the XII Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, the Tree of Friendship EEYF Alley was opened.
