We hold our ground!
For the fourth year in a row, USUE has been included in the Moscow International University Ranking “Three University Missions” (MosIUR). This year’s list encompassed 2,000 educational institutions, including 156 Russian universities. Only five Russian universities specializing in economics entered the ranking.
This year, Ural State University of Economics holds a place in the 79-113 positions group among Russian universities and the 1501-1750 positions group globally. By comparison, in 2024, USUE ranked 114th-152nd among Russian universities and 1751st-2000th globally.
Furthermore, USUE is one of five Russian universities specializing in economics included in this ranking. This position was maintained thanks to its efficient work in three key areas: Education, Research, and University & Society.
“USUE shows significant growth in research indicators: global citation rates of scientific publications increased by 5%, national citation rates increased by 11%, and the number of publications increased by 8%,” noted Viktor Blaginin, head of the USUE Office of Scientometrics, Research, and Rankings. “Besides, the university has seen an increase in the number of international students and an improvement in the quality of the educational process.”
The Three University Missions Moscow International University Ranking is the largest in Russia. It is compiled without expert assessments but uses open data from official university websites, official government data, and independent international sources. The ranking was initiated by the Russian Union of Rectors under the directive of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The ranking is operated by the Association of Rating, Ranking and Other Performance Evaluations Makers (ARM), whose members include leading ranking and research centers. The number of universities represented in the MosIUR increases annually: in 2022, the shortlist included over 2,200 universities; in 2023, over 2,300 universities; and in 2024 and 2025, it covered over 2,500 universities from more than 150 countries.
