Russian test cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev visited Ural State University of Economics. The meeting with students took place as part of the Heroes Among Us project.

The event was opened by USUE rector Yakov Silin:
“This is a unique example worth paying attention to and learning from. Perhaps this example will be the defining one for you. How did a man manage to achieve such a level? You can find it out today,” the rector greeted the audience.
One question that interested the students was whether it would be a good idea if everyone had the opportunity to take a flight to space. Sergey Prokopyev explained that space tourism is indeed actively developing.

The cosmonaut said that sooner or later, it will become more accessible when technology advances to the point where spacecraft can be reused. “I think that’s the future. While at the beginning of the last century, airplane travel was available only to a select few, now it’s available to nearly everyone. I hope space technologies will advance so that we’ll be able to buy tickets to space as easily as we buy plane tickets today. Nothing is impossible!”
The meeting participants inquired about the cosmonauts’ training, their daily routines, and their emotional experiences in outer space.
At the end of the meeting, Sergey Prokopyev presented USUE with a sheet autographed by the cosmonauts of the Roscosmos Cosmonaut Corps and a book “Conquerors of Space,” authored by the cosmonaut himself. The book describes the hero’s journey from an ordinary man to a conqueror of space.

Sergey Prokopyev completed two space flights with a total duration of over 567 days and performed eight spacewalks.
In September 2025, Roscosmos appointed Sergey Prokopyev as a deputy chief of the Cosmonaut Corps. This is not the first time the test cosmonaut has visited Ural State University of Economics.
For ten years now, USUE has been implementing a unique project - Heroes Among Us, which brings students together with prominent figures of their country. Major Dmitry Vorobyov, Lieutenant Colonel Maxim Sholomov, test cosmonauts Andrei Fedyaev and Dmitry Petelin, and other Heroes of the Russian Federation have already visited USUE.
