New partners and friends: USUE and IAMO signed an International Memorandum

USUE hosted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Ural State University of Economics and Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) to join efforts in the development and implementation of educational projects, academic mobility programs for teaching staff and students, as well as the development of other areas of cooperation. To sign this Memorandum, IAMO Director Thomas Glauben arrived in Yekaterinburg.

The solemn ceremony began with a welcoming speech by USUE rector Yakov Silin: “The sphere of agriculture is very important both for economy and for society, because everything is connected with nutrition and, therefore, with the health of people. The partnership and joint experience of our organizations and other universities around the world mean a lot for the future well-being of consumers. We are especially pleased that our graduates work for major modern enterprises. The interaction of the university, research institutes, real sector of the economy, specific enterprises, and government authorities reveals a high level of professional training to everyone who came to us to study and engage in scientific activities. Society, students, and researchers benefit from this cooperation.”

Thomas Glauben thanked the audience for warm hospitality and expressed hope for further fruitful partnership: “I am glad that now we can cooperate, exchange experience, and organize joint projects. About 70-80 IAMO employees represent those countries of the world with which our institute interacts. However, none of them is from Russia. I would very much like Russian scientists and students to be on the team of our institute and could build and strengthen an international scientific community. "

“We are glad that you are concluding an agreement with Ural State University of Economics because there is a wonderful team of professionals who are passionate about their work. Every year we see great progress among both teachers and students. These people who are not indifferent but ambitious and productive  can successfully carry out your future joint projects," Svetlana Ostrovskaya, Minister of the Agro-Industrial Complex and Consumer Market of the Sverdlovsk Region, said.
