About achievements, advantages and plans for the future

On January 10, USUE Rector Yakov Silin held a press conference. Its participants were journalists from TV companies of Polevskoy, Kamensk-Uralsky, and Nizhny Tagil. Yakov Silin told the media about the results the university had achieved in research and public life by the end of 2024, preparations for the XV Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, and trends in education.

Yakov Silin noted that by the end of 2024, Ural State University of Economics had strengthened its position in the national and international rankings for higher education institutions. Thus, the USUE scientific journals Upravlenets and Journal of New Economy were recognized as the best economic scientific publications in Russia in terms of the two-year impact factor. The scientific journal Digital Models and Solutions took fourth place in the category “Informatics”. The scientific journal “Food Industry” entered the top five leaders out of 41 publications.

“USUE is a reliable university. We maintain our core areas of training: everything related to economics, finance, information and food technologies. The university has been providing high-quality higher education sustainably, consistently and systematically for almost 60 years. In 2024, we graduated almost 3,500 people, and over 6,500 young people became first-year students. 90% of our students pay for their training themselves. If education were weak, no one would bring money,” Professor Silin said.

They also discussed the university’s international activities. Today, students from 69 countries receive higher education at USUE. And right now, the university is preparing for one of its key events: the XV Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, which will be held from April 21 to 25.

“Considering the geographical location and accumulated experience, the advantage of USUE in the Russian and international educational field is Eurasianism. ‘Eurasian Synergy: Multipolarity - Integration - Dialogue of Civilizations’ - this is the theme of the XV EEYF. We are uniting to become stronger and developing our territories, turning out highly skilled professionals. The Eurasian Economic Youth Forum is a kind of annual synchronization of watches: what we have achieved, and what lies ahead of us," Yakov Silin emphasized.

They also touched on modern trends in the education system. For example, the growing demand for colleges and technical schools among applicants. “Our university has a college that has been operating for a long time. And this is not an order of the day. Over 1,000 students study there today. For several years now, in some areas of training, the average passing grade for admission to the state-funded places has been 5.0. Besides, we have an Institute of Parallel Education, where you can simultaneously receive secondary and higher education,” stressed the doctor of economic sciences.

At the end of the press conference, USUE Rector Yakov Silin invited applicants and their parents to the Open Day, which will take place on January 18, 2025, at 12:00.
