About turbulence and gender stereotypes

Yekaterinburg-EXPO hosted a plenary session of the XIV international research-to-practice Conference “Decent Work - the Basis of Stable Society”, which is traditionally organized by the USUE Department of Labor Economics and Human Resources Management.

The theme of the plenary session of the conference was a human factor, namely “Human factors: business security, risks, trust, HR strategy.” They discussed the transformation of the labor market in recent years. Alexander Kokovikhin, director of the Institute of Digital Management Technologies and Information Security, noted that the two major topics of the conference - knowledge and security - are the key priorities of the university, which is interested in the successful employment of its graduates.

“There is an opinion that the national security of society, country, and individual depends on the qualitative state of economic, military, environmental, informational, and other types of security. This is true. However, safety is personnel’s doing,” Svetlana Dolzhenko, head of the Department of Labor Economics and HR Management and discussion moderator, said, opening the discussion. “Structural components of security or threats are derivatives of human activities. They depend on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the professional potential of a country, industry, particular enterprises!”

Oksana Sidletskaya, director of HeadHunter Yekaterinburg branch, spoke about new challenges. She cited Rosstat data proving that the sanctions of unfriendly countries affected about 4-6 million jobs in Russia.

Elena Varshavskaya, professor at the Department of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, Graduate School of Business, Higher School of Economics, continued the theme of turbulence. In her speech, she dispelled the stereotype popular in the early 2000s on an excess of economists in the country and a shortage of engineers.

The experts continued their discussion at the conference sections.
