Education is an investment in the future

The final Open Day of the current academic year was held at the Ural State University of Economics. Future applicants and their parents came to learn about changes in the admission rules and features of studying at USUE.

The USUE Institutes and College placed their stands in the hall of the first and second floors of the main building of the university. Here, in an informal atmosphere, university guests were able to communicate with heads of departments and teachers. Future applicants received first-hand answers to their most pressing questions: what kind of entrance tests are there, where graduates work, what forms of training are available.

“My dad is a manager, and everyone in the family is an economist, so I decided to follow in the footsteps of my relatives. I consider economic profiles, marketing, management, personnel management. Since there are 5 directions available, I plan to take advantage of this and apply everywhere. There are many good reviews about USUE. I looked at the curriculum myself, everything suits me,” Kristina Kulik, a student at school No. 91 in Yekaterinburg, shared her impressions.

In addition to informal communication, there was also an official part: in the classrooms, university staff told guests about the features of studying at the Institute of Economics and Finance, the Institute of Digital Technologies, Management and Information Security, the Institute of State, Municipal Administration and Law, the Institute of Management, Entrepreneurship and Engineering, the Institute of Master's Degree and USUE College. Each group was visited by the rector of the Ural State University of Economics Yakov Silin:

“It is very important to clearly define who you want to become. USUE prepares future leaders - those who lead teams from several people to several thousand. Studying is not easy, but we provide quality education. Direct confirmation of this: 85-90% of our graduates are employed in their specialty.”

The head of the Department for Admission and Pre-University Training at USUE, Irina Martyanova, told schoolchildren and their parents about changes in admission rules, the number of budget places, and key dates of the admissions campaign. Particular attention was paid to the rules for admission to the target area.

“Starting June 10, applicants can go to the Work in Russia platform. All enterprises that are ready to provide direction to study at a university and employ a graduate in the future will be listed there. Having chosen the direction of training, you must submit an application. If approved, the admissions committee should be promptly notified. Then the university will consider you in competitions: both according to the target quota and in general.”

In addition to schoolchildren and their parents who came to the USUE Open Day from the cities of the Sverdlovsk region, as well as Miass, Snezhinsk, Kemerovo, Vladivostok, the university was visited by students who plan to move to the next level of higher education and enroll in a master's degree.

“I am finishing my studies in Economics and Logistics.” I am considering the option of further studies in the master's program at USUE, as there are interesting areas of training presented here. It’s also great that all forms of education are available: full-time, part-time, part-time, part-time. I've never seen anything like this before! I was most interested in personnel management,” said 4th year student of the USTU Anastasia Marchenko.

USUE Vice-Rector for Scientific Work Viktor Kovalev spoke about entrance examinations and career prospects for young people:

“You can build a good career in higher school. USUE has young candidates and doctors of science. Our main advantage is the applied nature of education; we teach students to see the cause-and-effect relationships of various economic processes. Of course, in a master’s degree the share of independent work increases, but without this it is impossible to gain practical experience.”

This year the admission campaign starts on June 20. Detailed information about the features of admission, the number of places and areas of study is posted on the USUE website in the “Applicants” section.
