From Vietnam to Senegal
From November 12 to 14, in the run-up to Mother’s Day, USUE is holding the Letter to Mom campaign. During three days, students and teachers of the university may send holiday greetings to their dearest and closest person. Students and teachers at the university have written 76 letters today, and they will send them to different parts of the country and the world.
The first few hours, dozens of students decided to seize a chance to write moving words. A third-year student, Aleksandra Chunareva, also wrote a letter to her mother. Her mother lives in Izhevsk, so the letter will fly to the Udmurt Republic.
“My mother and I maintain very warm relationships. Of course, we don’t call each other every day, but I always know her news thanks to social networking. By writing letters to their mothers, students will remember that the holiday is coming soon. I am sure every mother will be pleased to receive such a message. For sure, on Mother’s Day we will call our mothers and once again say important words and how much we love them,” Sasha says.
The geography of letters dispatches on the first day of the event turned out to be quite extensive - congratulations flew all over the world: to Yekaterinburg, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Vietnam, Cameroon, and Senegal.
You can write a letter to your mother at the second-floor lobby of the USUE main building from 10:00 to 14:00 on November 12, 13 and 14. You can enclose a greeting card in the letter: the university provides them to all comers.
Ural State University of Economics and the International Volunteer Center “Eurasia” have been hosting the Letter to Mom campaign since 2011. In 2018, the event was among the winning projects of the regional stage of the national competition “Volunteer of Russia”. Besides, Letter to Mom many a time received support from the city authorities. In 2021, the project won a grant from the Youth Policy Committee of the Yekaterinburg Administration, taking first place in the Bank of Youth Initiatives competition.
