Opening of MAEF-2022 in Moscow

Professor Yakov Silin, president of the Ural branch of the Free Economic Society of Russia, rector of Ural State Economic University, Doctor of Economics attended the plenary session of the forum.   

This year, the Moscow Academic Economic Forum - 2022 theme is “Russia: Challenges of the Global Transformation of the 21st Century”. MAEF is organized by the Free Economic Society of Russia, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the International Union of Economists. MAEF is a permanent intellectual platform within which industry-specific forums are held throughout the year.

 

This year’s forum showed significant activity in the regions: from April 18 to May 13, over 80 regional venues in 52 constituent entities of the Russian Federation worked. Over 600 specialists spoke at scientific and practical events in the regions. Thanks to such a systematic job at the MAEF venues, the final materials of the forum will present the researches of experts and specialists from all regions of our country, including the works of USUE professors.

The MAEF-2022 plenary session was held in the Presidential Hall of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Over 3,500 persons came in on the work of MAEF in offline and online formats. This year, the total number of forum participants is about eight thousand people. Colleagues from different regions of Russia and foreign experts from India, Bulgaria, Hungary, Japan, Italy, Canada, Cuba, Germany, Greece, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and other countries have taken part in MAEF today. Among the participants of the forum are representatives of government officials, scientists, heads of the country’s leading economic universities, and young economists.

At USUE, vice-rectors, directors of USUE Institutes, heads of departments and representatives of the Ural branch of the VEO of Russia joined the online broadcast of the MAEF-2022 plenary session. Alongside, USUE rector Yakov Silin was on the other side of the screen - among the MAEF guests of honor in the Presidential Hall of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

The plenary session was opened by MAEF Co-chairperson, President of the Free Economic Society of Russia and President of the International Union of Economists Sergei Bodrunov. He thanked the scientists and specialists for the fruitful work that had taken place at the regional venues of the forum from April 18 to May 13: “We are convinced that the spread of our MAEF benefits our Russian economic science. It is worth noting that the statistics of the 4th MAEF show geographic growth of the forum and confirm the qualitative compliance with its mission as an intellectual platform that brings together experts and scientists from the regions of Russia and foreign countries for a meaningful discussion, development of new ideas, and approaches to solving priority issues of the national and world agenda.”

Alexander Sergeev, MAEF Co-chair, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, delivered a report. He said that economists should show all the experience accumulated over decades and representatives of natural sciences should implement their developments. 

The plenary session also discussed such key issues as global trends in the global financial system, the transformation of digital and intellectual technologies, the realities and trends of global food security, the new structure of the economy of Russian regions, and other critical economic issues.

The MAEF-2022 plenary session was held in the Presidential Hall of the Russian Academy of Sciences. USUE rector Yakov Silin took part in it.
