They made friends with the Ural winter

The USUE preparatory faculty for foreign citizens students organized bright leisure activities for their students during the New Year holidays. Despite the frosts unusual for many of them, almost every day, the students became acquainted with the life of wintry  Yekaterinburg, took part in sports and cultural events.

The first winter in Russia is a big event for many of our international students, whose homeland is hot regions. But the New Year is one of the favorite holidays in any country, so they, of course, talked about it at Russian language classes, decorated a Christmas tree together with Russian students, met at the USUE Museum with Father Frost and Snow Maiden - all this inspired the students to make treats, gather at the table the day before and exchange gifts according to Russian tradition

From January 2, students of the USUE preparatory faculty plunged into the world of traditional winter fun and popular entertainment, walked a lot around the snow-covered Yekaterinburg shining with a myriad of lights.

“We arranged a walk in the Kharitonovsky garden, rode down the hills, fed the geese and pigeons with bread. We talked about migratory and non-migratory birds, birdhouses and feeders,” said Anna Shaimardanova, a teacher of the USUE preparatory faculty.

Frosts did not frighten Farag Ahmed El Said Arafa from Egypt: “My friends and I walked around the Square of 1905, visited shopping centers. Everywhere we saw a lot of decorations and joyful people. It was beautiful and pleasant, although very cold!”

The USUE sports and recreation complex hosted a futsal championship and badminton competitions. We alternated outside activities with educational ones: we visited the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg and the Hermitage-Ural center, and ended the week with a trip to the cinema.

Students from Afghanistan, China, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Cameroon, France, Turkey, Tunisia, Morocco, Peru and other countries took part in the events.
