Holidays are coming!

Schoolchildren from Makeevka (Donetsk People’s Republic) arrived in Yekaterinburg on the eve of the holidays. A delegation of 40 high school students visited Ural State University of Economics.

The teenagers came to the Ural capital as part of an agreement concluded between the government of the Sverdlovsk region and the administration of the city of Makeyevka. For two weeks, the children are getting acquainted with the history of the region and its educational sites.

“We presented the children with the capabilities of Ural State University of Economics: we gave them a tour of our buildings and told them about the areas of training. The children were actively interested in the curriculum. They were most attracted to economics, information technologies, and law. We will be glad to see them among our applicants!” Irina Martyanova, head of the USUE Office for Admission and Pre-University Training, noted.

The schoolchildren also took part in an interactive master class “A Peek into Financial Literacy.” While playing, teenagers got acquainted with financial terms, made crossword puzzles, and danced a financial polka. After each stage, the best received a USUE merch as a gift.

Moving from enlightenment to celebration, the guests visited the dress rehearsal of the New Year’s performance “Christmas Tree in Emerald City.” At the USUE House of Culture, schoolchildren met the director of the production and learned the secrets of the theater backstage. In the finale, Father Frost and Snow Maiden presented gifts to the children. The delegation from Makeyevka will leave home on December 25.

“It was cognitive and fun! An interesting excursion, a fascinating master class, and such a warm meeting with the main New Year characters. Thank you, USUE! I got the most out of this visit to Yekaterinburg,” Dmitry Averkin, a student at school No. 95 (Makeevka), shared his impressions.

USUE actively takes part in integrating new regions’ residents into a peaceful life and is a participant in the University Summer Sessions project. This summer, a delegation of schoolchildren from the Zaporozhye region visited the university.
