State recognized

By decree of the President of the Russian Federation, USUE professors Nadezhda Surnina and Natalia Stozhko were awarded Certificates of Appreciation for their services in research and teaching, training of highly qualified specialists, and for longstanding dedicated work.

Doctor of Economic Sciences, professor at the USUE Department of Information Technologies and Statistics, Nadezhda Surnina, and head of the USUE Department of Physics and Chemistry, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Natalia Stozhko, are Honorary Workers of higher professional education of the Russian Federation.

Nadezhda Surnina has been teaching at the university for over 35 years: “I worked my way from an assistant to a professor at the Department of Regional Economics. During this time, we managed to make a significant contribution to the development of science and education. I am grateful for the recognition of my achievements and hope that this award will become an incentive for further development and the opening of new research areas. Besides, I would like to express my gratitude to the leadership of our alma mater, the staff and to my scientific supervisor Yevgeny Georgievich Animitsa,” Nadezhda Matveevna says.

Nadezhda Surnina is the author of over150 scientific and educational works on the spatial development of socio-economic systems, tools, methods, and technologies for managing economic systems. She was awarded the badge Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, a diploma of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk region, a badge of the Statistical Service of the Russian Federation, and a diploma of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region. The professor received the title of Honorary Veteran from USUE in 2023. Under her scientific supervision, over the past five years, two candidates of sciences have been defended their theses and one doctorate dissertation has been prepared. Today, she is supervising the works of two postgraduate students. She is a member of the editorial boards of Human Progress journal and Digital Models and Solutions journal. Both journals are on the list of the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK).

Natalia Stozhko has been working for USUE since 1977. During this time, the professor became the author of more than 400 scientific papers, patents and inventor’s certificates, as well as over 50 certificates for computer programs.

“First of all, this is the award to the staff of the Department of Physics and Chemistry, as well as to young scientists from the USUE Scientific Innovation Center for Sensor Technologies, with whom I work. The award is the recognition of significant results achieved not by one person, but by the huge team in which I have worked for many years. This suggests that our hard work is valuable to the country. The Certificate, of course, is significant for me as well as for our entire university. I am very grateful to all those who were at my side, including my scientific supervisor, Honored Scientist, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Hiena Zalmanovna Brainina, and my fellow workers,” Natalia Yuryevna noted.

Natalia Stozhko is the chair of the Ural branch of the Scientific Council on Analytical Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a member of the advisory and editorial boards of international and national scientific journals. Under academic supervision of Natalia Yuryevna, 5 candidates of science defended their dissertations. At the current time, Professor Stozhko supervises two postgraduate students majoring in Analytical Chemistry.
