DEAR STUDENTS, DO WRITE GRADUATION PAPERS AND MAKE UP YOUR MISSED ASSIGNMENTS!

January 19, Dmitry Karkh, USUE Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Teaching Methods and Quality of Training, answered on-line questions about the organization of the educational process.

The on-line meeting was also attended by Alexandra Morozova,  head of the USUE  Curriculum and Instruction Office, Vera Solovieva,  director of the USUE  Institute of Trade,d Food Technologies and Service, Maxim Maramygin,  director of the USUE  Institute of Finance and Law, Alexander Kokovikhin,  director of the USUE  Institute of Management and Information Technologies, Valery Dubrovsky,  director of the USUE  Institute of Economics, and Alexei Chechulin,  director of the USUE College .

Dmitry Karkh spoke about the organization of educational process in general, and about students' curriculum practical training and pre-graduation internship.

Currently, in accordance with the order of USUE rector dated December 29, 2020, fourth-year Bachelor’s students, second-year Master's students and second- and third –year students of USUE College will do various types of practical training, which are provided for by the schedule of the educational process.
By the same order, all students will undergo practical training at the University. This does not mean that it is impossible to do internships at enterprises, where students will arrange internship themselves. In such a case, there is no need to provide contracts and performance records to institutes.
The schedule of classes will include hours of consultations with practice supervisors. During consultations, it is possible to resolve emerging issues both on writing reports on training practice, and on the implementation of final qualifying works. These consultations can take place both in person and in Microsoft Teams, which will be obligatorily indicated in the schedule.

To obtain a diploma with honors, it is allowed to improve one grade. One should address this matter to the institute. A make-up examination is possible if all practice reports were rated as "excellent". And, of course, an excellent grade should also be received at the defense of the graduation paper.

When answering the question on coronavirus vaccination, Dmitry Karkh emphasized that it was voluntary.

Those who would like to enter Master’s degree courses were interested if there would be state-funded places for the Applied Informatics program. Unfortunately, there are no state-funded places for next year. However, the possibility of a discount for USUE students - holders of diplomas with distinctions is being considered. Besides, at admission to the master's program, additional 10 points are awarded for an honors degree.
Entrance tests for postgraduate studies are held in the traditional form according to the postgraduate curriculum, which is posted on the University website. Personal achievements are also taken into account, their list being posted on the University website.

Lectures at USUE are still held in Microsoft Teams. However, starting from March 23, the schedule will change.  If the epidemiological situation does not make significant adjustments, the University will switch to full- time work. Moreover, for groups of up to 60 persons, both lectures and practical classes will be held in in-person format.  For streaming lectures for groups of more than 60 students, classes are held in Microsoft Teams until the end of the school year.

There were many other, more narrow and specific questions, which also received answers and clarifications. The record of the meeting is available on the USUE YouTube channel
