At the III Ural Economic Forum held at USUE, there was delivered a public lecture "Noonomics: the Essence and Mechanism of Transition." Prof. Sergei Bodrunov, the President of the Free Economic Society of Russia, President of the International Union of Economists, Director of the S. Y. Witte Institute for New Industrial Development, Honorary Professor of USUE, Doctor of Economicsvia video link, told the students about digitalization and a qualitatively new approach to economic development.

Sergei Bodrunov noted that the coronavirus pandemic had contributed to the introduction of technologies in different spheres of human life and had become a trigger accelerating the solution of long-standing issues.

So, today, with ever-increasing frequency, they refer to Industry 4.0, which advent will entail the massive spread of digital technologies and "smart" automated person-free factories.

The pandemic has given a powerful impetus to the spread of digitalization. For example, in 2020, the number of people using video calling in the world increased by 50% compared to the previous year. Today, it is impossible to deny the decisive role of technologies in economic development. In addition, I would say that today the quantitative growth of the economy is not so much important as its qualitative change, and this requires scientific and technological progress," Professor Sergei Bodrunov said.
