USUE Council of Young Scientists supported the contest of projects on improvement of urban environment and quality of citizens life

October 26, Yekaterinburg Administration hosted the final of the International contest of projects of students, postgraduates and young scientists in the field of urban development and improvement of the quality of the urban environment and quality of life of citizens.

The participants of the finals were welcomed by Alexei Kozhemyako, First Deputy Head of Yekaterinburg Administration, Andrei Koryukov, Deputy Head on Strategic Planning, Economic Affairs and Finance of Yekaterinburg Administration, and Olga Ergunova, chairperson of the Sverdlovsk regional branch of the Russian Union of Young Scientists, chairperson of the USUE Council of Young Scientists. The moderator of the event was a senior lecturer at the USUE Алиса Титовец . Department of regional and municipal economics and management Alisa Titovetc.

The participants of the contest were undergraduates, master’s degree students, postgraduates and external Ph.D. students, young scientists, and professionals under 35 years. In total, the organizers received 61 applications. Most of the projects were presented by universities of Yekaterinburg: USUE, USUAA, USFEU, UrFU, and RSVPU. The geography of the participants includes nine Russian cities (Moscow, Belgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Saratov, Samara, Cheboksary, and Yoshkar-Ola) and six countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, and Peru).

Participants presented projects on formation of a friendly environment for urban public transport, creation of smart pedestrian crossings, greening the roofs of shopping centers and offices, and creation of fast parking lots.

Among the finalists were projects by USUE master’s degree students Darya Zhuravleva, Yevgenia Vakhrusheva, and Anastasia Elizarova and USUE undergraduates Danila Suvorov, Aleksander Roy, Ivan Molotkov, and Maxim Shishkin.

The winners were:

1st place - Yana Buchelnikova, Veronica Kotsan, project "Formation of a friendly environment for Yekaterinburg urban public transport";

2nd place - Maxim Chashchin, business project "Park of Entrepreneurs: free coworking space";

3rd place - Kseniya Bondar, Marina Burmistrova, Nikita Kornilov, Ekaterina Lapteva, project "Urban redevelopment in Yekaterinburg of the future."

The winners will present their projects at the All-Russia Forum for Strategic Development "Cities of Russia - 2030: Crossroads of Opportunities", which will be held in Yekaterinburg from November 15 to 16.
