The start of a new life chapter
Once again, the square in front of the university became a gathering place for young people. Today, the freshmen became the main characters of a new stage in their lives — their studentship.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Prof. Yakov Silin, acting rector of USUE: “This new academic year is a special one: in 2027, Ural State University of Economics will celebrate its 60th anniversary. Much of what was established when our higher education institution had been founded is preserved today as our finest traditions. You are fortunate to have entered one of the country's best economic universities, and you will soon see this for yourselves: we have an excellent faculty and a strong team of dedicated staff. We are ready for the new academic year and ready to support everyone who came here to study, gain knowledge, and serve the Fatherland. You can do everything in your power to make the country proud of you, so that together we can glorify our Russia. Hard work, diligence, and mutual respect are the keys to your success. You have taken your first major step into this new stage of life; there will be many more ahead, and may they all be happy ones!”
Natalia Romanova, deputy manager of the Sverdlovsk branch of Sberbank, also congratulated all participants of the ceremony on Knowledge Day and the start of a new academic year.
Every year, the university opens its doors to thousands of ambitious and talented young people. This year, over 4,000 students across all levels and formats of study are set to begin their education. During the event, the head of the university singled out freshmen who achieved top scores on their Unified State Exams (EGE) and entrance tests. Fourteen students received their student ID cards and commemorative souvenirs directly from Yakov Silin. Musical performances prepared by the USUE vocal studio added to the festive atmosphere.
Our congratulations to everyone on the holiday! May this academic year be productive, eventful, and successful! Wishing you the best of luck on your new journey!
