Strategizing in action
February 27 and March 2, 2026, at the Moscow School of Economics of Lomonosov Moscow State University, expert sessions of the Moscow Strategic Universitarium are taking place.
USUE acting rector of, Professor Yakov Silin, is participating in the Universitarium dedicated to the discussion of the theory, methodology, and practice of strategizing: a thoroughly researched, scientifically substantiated and methodically structured process for developing long-term goals and development directions, followed by the subsequent phased implementation of these strategic decisions in the activities of a business or government entity. Within the modern socioeconomic paradigm, strategizing tools demonstrate a high level of heuristic potential, enabling a prompt response to emerging external threats and an efficient use of available internal resources to strengthen competitiveness and improve the overall performance of national economic entities.
In the modern world, strategizing is not simply the art of planning, but really a science that requires a deep understanding of various disciplines and approaches. Scholars engaged in strategizing work at the nexus of economics, management, psychology, and sociology, creating comprehensive models and theories that help organizations and governments make grounded decisions.
Among the participants of the Moscow Strategic Universitarium - 2026 there are Alexander Nekipelov, director of the MSU Moscow School of Economics, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Kvint, head of the Department of Economic and Financial Strategy at the MSU Moscow School of Economics, director of the MSU Center for Strategic Studies at the Institute for Mathematical Studies of Complex Systems, Sergei Bodrunov, president of the VEO of Russia, director of S. Y. Witte Institute for New Industrial Developmentt, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Albert Bakhtizin, director of the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute under the Russian Academy of Sciences, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Ivanov, director of the N.S. Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry under the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and many other authoritative scientists and experts.
USUE and Lomonosov Moscow State University are engaged in fruitful scientific and educational cooperation in the field of strategizing. As a reminder, the Ural Strategic Universitarium, a large-scale educational, scientific, and practical event aimed at developing strategic thinking and popularizing the theory and practice of strategizing, was held in Yekaterinburg on October 16–17, 2025. The forum was held at Ural State University of Economics as part of the VIII international research-to-practice conference “Strategizing: Theory and Practice.”
In his introductory lecture at the Ural Strategic Universitarium entitled “Theory of Strategy and Methodology of Strategizing. Formation of the Russian School of Strategizing,” Vladimir Kvint presented the systemic foundations of strategic thinking and the scientific principles of the modern school of strategic planning, emphasizing the importance of professional training for strategists in implementing national, regional, and corporate development strategies. Participants at the Ural Strategic Universitarium particularly focused on the expert session “Role of Strategizing in the Efficient Development of Ural Industrial Systems in the Face of New Challenges,” which was attended by heads of industrial enterprises from Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region, representatives of legislative and executive authorities, municipalities, and public organizations.
The Moscow and Ural Strategic Universitariums represent significant stages in the development of the Russian school of strategizing, uniting the scientific community and professional expert community of Russia around the tasks of strategic development and training of a new generation of professional strategists.
