Theory and practice of digital transformation
USUE teachers took part in the V International Conference DTI-2023: “Digital Transformation of Industry: Trends, Management, Strategies - 2023”. The scientific section worked at the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant (UOMP).
The event exemplifies the collaboration between science, production, business, and government, according to the moderator of the section Viktor Kovalev, USUE Vice-Rector for Research.
“A complex discussion took place on the matters at hand. The section serves as a vivid example of the continuation of relations between higher education and the industrial sector of the economy for the strengthening and prosperity of the economy of the Russian Federation. UOMP and USUE are long-time partners, jointly developing and strengthening the industrial sector of the Russian economy.”
The conference brought together scientists and practitioners from the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, leading universities in Moscow, Kazan, Vladivostok, as well as heads of major industrial enterprises of the country.
“Digital transformation of leading industries is a key scientific priority,” says Alla Golovina, head of the USUE Department of Enterprise Economics. “In this area, we cooperate with many enterprises in the Sverdlovsk region. And it is no coincidence that the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant became the platform for discussing this topic. There are interesting solutions here in scientific and practical terms. Today’s event was another stage in the development of this important topic.”
In February 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin, awarding young scientists, called for ensuring the country's technological sovereignty by introducing the latest achievements in IT, microelectronics, transport and new materials into the economy and production. UOMP Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance, Andrei Vaulin, noted in his report that to achieve these goals, the company was already using the elements and mechanisms of digitalization that are available for commercial use: special software, electronic document flow, databases, and training simulations.
The international scientific conference “Digital Transformation of Industry: Trends, Management, Strategies” is traditionally held under the auspices of the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications of the Sverdlovsk region, the Ministry of Industry and Science of the Sverdlovsk region, and the Sverdlovsk Regional Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. The purpose of the conference is to evaluate trends and prospects for digital transformation in industry and industrial markets, create an idea of introduction mechanisms for digitalization processes, and substantiate successful strategies of digital transformation in sectors and at industrial enterprises.
