Ural as the driver of Russia's development

On October 16-17 USUE hosts the sixth UEF - Ural as the Driver of Neo-Industrial and Innovative Development of Russia. The key topic is “National Development Goals of Russia: Effective Solutions for the New Time”.

The first day of the forum brought together leading Russian economists, scientists, public and municipal authorities, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk region, heads of major industrial enterprises, and representatives of medical organizations.

At the plenary session, the key topic revolved around transforming the economy and the entire system of social relations towards noonomics and society, where soft values will take on the leading role. The participants believe it is impossible to develop our country technologically as well as to fulfil the tasks set by the President of Russia in new national projects, aimed at solving economic and demographic issues, without creating a new economic theory.

“I am part of the USUE family. The Ural has always been a seat of industrial and economic power and tradition,” Sergey Bodrunov, President of the Free Economic Society of Russia, President of the International Union of Economists, said, opening the plenary session. He emphasized that today knowledge permeates all elements of production processes, and it is knowledge, knowledge-intensive and innovative productions that form a new technological structure of our country. New technologies allow saving material resources, but require a greater volume and quality of knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to establish centers in Russia, where advanced knowledge will crystallize and from where it will penetrate into technological processes.

During the plenary session, the participants made an important step towards ensuring that the advanced knowledge and ideas of the Ural School of Economics serve the development of the economy of the entire country: they included the Ural Economic Forum in the Moscow Academic Economic Forum. The agreement thereon was signed by the USUE rector, Yakov Silin, and the President of the Free Economic Society of Russia, Sergey Bodrunov.

“Today we are declaring ourselves as a driver of innovative development in Russia. The Ural is a key producer of copper products, one leader in the production of titanium products, ferrous metallurgy, and agriculture. Besides, it is a scientific and educational center, a land of responsible and creative people,” emphasized in his welcoming speech Ruslan Sadykov, Minister of Economy and Territorial Development of the Sverdlovsk region.

Professor Yakov Silin, USUE rector and Vice-President of the Free Economic Society of Russia, in his report noted the importance of achieving the new national development goals of the Russian Federation, approved by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 7, 2024, on preserving the population and maintaining its health, realizing the potential of each person, creating a comfortable and safe environment for life, environmental well-being, technological leadership, digital transformation, and, most importantly, creating a sustainable and dynamic economy. Professor Silin emphasized that despite all the difficulties of recent years, Russia and the BRICS countries today show economic stability. And the role of the BRICS countries in the global economy is growing.

“Economic theory is also a weapon. Noonomics as a theory of new values, human relationships, and a system of views has been developing at our university for the past several years. At USUE, we have created a noonomics center, a department of economic theory, and are ready to share this knowledge,” said Yakov Silin.

The sixth Ural Economic Forum will continue its work on October 17. The participants of the sixth Ural Economic Forum will attend four thematic sessions, which will focus on developing regional and municipal economies, legal mechanisms and management technologies, digital transformation, and the development of the main areas of life support for each person under present-day conditions.
