It’s Ural character!

The traditional 8th military sports game DOSAAF Day took place at Ural State University of Economics. 13 student teams competed for the title of the strongest, bravest and toughest.

The military sports game began with the formation of teams. The participants were welcomed by USUE rector Yakov Silin, “It is symbolic that we are holding this military sports game on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day. Introducing to army traditions gives young people the opportunity to study the history of the country. You serve as an example for your peers because you openly show your potential, love for your homeland, and Ural character,” Yakov Silin said.

Traditionally, competitions are supported by the Sverdlovsk regional branch of the DOSAAF of Russia. The chair of the organization, Yuri Yanochkin, presented the rector of the university, Yakov Silin, with sets of practice assault rifles so that USUE students could improve their assembling /disassembling skills.

Sergei Voronin, an aid to USUE rector and the chief of competition, addressed the teams, “The judges of the competition are veterans of combat operations in Afghanistan and North Caucasus, participants in the special military operation and employees of the fire and rescue squad of the Sverdlovsk region. They have rich combat and theoretical experience behind them. Show us what you can do!”

After the draw, the students went to the competitive stages. Students faced 16 tests: a historical quiz, AK-74 assembling and disassembling, preparing a grenade for combat use, providing first aid, air-rifle shooting, and much more. To complete each task, the teams had a particular time, so the teams had to act as one and quickly.

“The Fire Combat Deployment stage caused the greatest excitement, because as a child I dreamed of working for the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The most difficult thing was to pass the test on map symbols knowledge. As a two-time winner of DOSAAF Day, I confidently declare: the key to a team’s success is its unity and ingenuity,” Denis Plekh, the captain of the OSObennye (Special) team, said.

The last test was the sports relay race. The participants overcame an obstacle course, threw grenades, shot at targets and competed in rock climbing.

Excellent results will bring an excellent reward. A winning team will travel around Russia for 2 weeks.
