Negotiations were held in Moscow between the leadership of the Ural State University of Economics and the Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation. The meeting focused on summing up interim results and developing further steps to advance bilateral humanitarian and educational cooperation.

The key topic of discussion was the activities of the Russian Language Center, established by USUE in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. This landmark project is now in its second year of implementation. As noted, its work has been successful and in demand. The first group of students will graduate in October of this year. A second group is currently continuing their studies, and a third group is being recruited. The Center's total student body has already reached 57.
During the meeting, particular attention was paid to prospects for cooperation in the field of professional language education. The parties agreed to explore the possibility of organizing specialized Russian language courses for representatives of the Sri Lankan tourism industry. This initiative is aimed at developing tourism flows and strengthening business ties between the two countries.


The talks confirmed a mutual interest in deepening and expanding the partnership between USUE and Sri Lanka, opening up new opportunities for the implementation of joint educational programs.
