USUE and a leading Chinese university have agreed to cooperate

At the invitation of the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU, Shaanxi Province), USUE Vice-Rector for Research, Viktor Kovalev, attended the International Russian-Chinese Conference on Smart Agriculture and Digital Transformation of the Industry and delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. The meeting was supported by grants from China.

NWAFU is one of China’s leading agricultural universities and is part of the national “Project 211” and “Project 985,” which unite the country’s leading universities with the shared goal of China’s leadership to promote these universities to leading global rankings. Scientific collaboration between USUE and NWAFU includes joint research, exchange of experience, and expert sessions.

At the conference, Viktor Kovalev, along with Viktor Blaginin, Head of the Office of Scientometrics, Research and Rankings (Russian abbreviation UNRIRR), and Elizaveta Sokolova, an UNRIRR specialist and USUE postgraduate student, reported on implementing artificial intelligence in Russia’s agro-industrial complex. Viktor Kovalev presented an analysis of scientometric indicators for AI implementation in agriculture and touched on issues of logistics and international trade.

During the visit, Viktor Kovalev reached an agreement with the NWAFU Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Hongming Zhang, on the draft memorandum of understanding between universities, as well as on developing joint publications and the increasing of the editorial boards of USUE journals (Journal of New Economy, Upravlenets), and Food Industry) by engaging Chinese scientists. The parties discussed the prospects for joint participation in grants from the Russian Science Foundation and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

NWAFU representatives have received an invitation to participate in the Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, where they will be able to establish professional contacts and exchange experiences with the international community.
