USUE IS NOT GOING TO SHIFT THE BEGINNING OF ACADEMIC YEAR!

Despite the difficult situation with the outbreak of coronavirus infection and the restrictive measures taken in this regard, Ural State University of Economics is preparing for the Admission Campaign 2020. April 23, the University held a scheduled Open Day but as an online meeting.

The University’s website published instructions for those wishing to participate in the online broadcast, attended by USUE Rector Yakov Silin, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Teaching Methods, and Quality of Training Dmitry Karkh and the head of the Department for Admission and Pre-university Training Irina Martyanova.

The Open Day was dedicated to the features of admission to higher education programs and those of secondary vocational education in the 2020-2021 academic year.
This year, the Admission Campaign will begin on June 19. From this date, school, college, and technical school leavers and school leavers of past years will be able to apply for admission through the University electronic information system. This is one big difference in the Admission Campaign 2020. This year, applicants will be able to submit documents only remotely, but not by Russian Post.

Detailed, step-by-step instruction for the University’s electronic information system will be presented at the next online broadcast of the Open Day, which is scheduled for May 21. Around the same time, a “Submit documents” button will appear on USUE website, with which those who wish to become University applicants will be able to go through a simple registration and file scans of their documents.

Dmitry Karkh talked about the number of state-funded places allocated for different forms of training and emphasized that “this year the number of state-funded places as a whole has increased: 380 places for bachelor's programs with 264 of them for intramural studies, 20 – for an intra-extramural form of studies, 96 – for extramural courses."
The online form cannot provide for the only one thing – submission of an original school-leaving certificate. This is likely to happen when an applicant arrives to study at the University.

In particular, several applicants from abroad were interested what would happen if they entered, and the borders would still be closed by the beginning of the academic year.
They were assured that they, of course, would become students, but in this case, the studies would be held in remote mode, which is currently operating in all universities of the country.

Answering numerous questions about the terms of payment for training, USUE Rector Yakov Silin emphasized that the payment scheme can be chosen independently: for a year, per term, per quarter, etc.
In addition, Yakov Silin assured that USUE intends to start both summer preparatory courses for applicants and the academic year on time. A complete set of questions and answers can be found in recording

At the end of the Open Day broadcast, Yakov Silin recommended applicants to be frequent visitors of the University website, of its institutes and departments. Besides, he focused on the priority areas of training at USUE: “If you wish to become an economist, financier, lawyer, or specialist in food and biotechnologies, then to gain knowledge you should enter USUE!”
