USUE has won a grant to develop a student research society

On April 14, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia summed up the results of the competition of student research societies, applications for which were accepted from January 25 to February 25, 2022. Russian universities will receive grants that can be spent on organizing and holding events, academic mobility, additional education for society members, and popularization of science.

Out of 292 applications, 244 contestants passed the initial selection according to formal criteria, and from them 40 winning universities were chosen, which would receive 10 grants of 5 million rubles, 10 grants of 3 million rubles, and 20 grants of 1 million rubles. Ural State University of Economics headed the list with the best project up to 1 million rubles.

USUE presented a project “Development and implementation of an innovative system for engaging students in research activities through the development of specialized scientometric competencies.” Scientific supervisor of the project was Viktor Andreevich Blaginin, head of the USUE Department of Scientometrics, Research and Ratings.

Support for student societies is part of the great work the Russian Ministry of Education and Science holds to attract young people to research. This is the first time we have held such a competition for student research societies and, despite this, we received 292 applications from universities. This is an excellent response from the community. It is important that the bulk of grants will go to the regions: 34 out of 40 grants have been won by universities from 30 regions of Russia, from Russia’s Far East and Siberia to Dagestan and Kuban,” Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, stressed.
