WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A STATE AND A COUNTRY AND WHAT IS PATRIOTISM? 

Within the framework of the patriotic project "Heroes Are among Us", the freshers of Ural State University of Economics met with the Hero of the Russian Federation, Colonel of the RF Armed Forces, an adviser to the USUE rector for patriotic education Sergei Voronin.  
 
The meeting was also attended by students who came to study at our University from China and African countries. The students were seated in the classroom observing social distancing.    
 
This time, at a meeting with the Hero, the conversation turned to the difference between love for the Motherland and one’s duty to the country. Sergei Nikolaevich explained to the students that the goal of patriotic education is not state propaganda, but love for the native country and respect for its history: “A country is its people, territory, art, culture, and history, and a state is the authorities that deal with the life maintenance of population. When we talk about patriotism, we mean the country, not the state. For me, patriotism means being proud of your Motherland."   

 
 
 The students asked what, besides patriotic education, Sergei Voronin was involved in, and they found out that he is a great lover of sports. The Hero of Russia spoke about the sporting and patriotic events that regularly took place at USUE and invited freshers to join them. 
 
Shortly, the first-year students will attend an interactive shooting gallery Ural Law Institute of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the military units of the Ural Federal District to perform complex exercises of qualification shoot in the field and see heavy military equipment with their own eyes.
 
By the decree of the President of Russia dated March 23, 2000, for "courage and heroism shown in the performance of a special assignment during the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus region, Captain Sergei Voronin was granted the high title of Hero of the Russian Federation and presented with the Gold Star medal.
