IN THE HALL OF THE SECOND FLOOR OF USUE MAIN BUILDING ONE CAN FIND AN EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO CHESS ART

The Department of Chess Art and Computer Mathematics was organized at USUE in 2019 based on the Department of Applied Mathematics. The department successfully operates a Chess & Checkers Club.

The idea of ??setting and opening the department of chess art was born in summer 2017. USUE hosted a report-and-election conference of the Sverdlovsk Region Chess Federation. The 12th world chess champion, deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Anatoly Karpov, took part in the conference. Then, on July 15, Anatoly Karpov proposed to Yakov Silin to establish a chess department at the University of Economics, which would train specialists with the right to teach chess at schools.
Today USUE is the only university in the Urals where there is a department of chess art and computer mathematics. The Department runs a Chess & Draughts Club for students, teachers and all chess fans.

An international grandmaster among women Lyudmila Fedorovna Saunina is a USUE graduate, and since 2020 the world chess champion Leya Garifullina has been studying at the USUE College.

Exhibits for the exposition "Do you play chess? Then you should enter USUE!" have been donated to the Museum of USUE History by students and University staff members - chess devotees. The attention grabber of the exposition is a chess set for three players, featuring a non-standard board shape, as well as three sets of pieces: not only black and white, but also red.
