Ural State University of Economics held events to celebrate Financier's Day. The event was organized by the Regional Center for Financial Literacy. The event included a plenary session, roundtable discussions, master classes, and lectures on financial literacy, financial culture and history, and cybersecurity.

The plenary session was opened by USUE Rector Yakov Silin, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Sverdlovsk Region Natalia Vyshegorodskaya, and First Deputy Minister of Education of the Sverdlovsk Region Zhanna Fritsko.

In his welcoming speech, Yakov Petrovich congratulated those gathered on Financier's Day.

"I'd like to express special gratitude to the government agencies and banking system employees who took the time to participate in the event and share their knowledge, which is relevant today," said Yakov Silin. "I encourage students to listen carefully and attend the lectures. It's up to us to decide who will work in the financial system of our cities and regions. This is a serious responsibility."

Yakov Petrovich also emphasized that the Sverdlovsk region has created the third most powerful financial infrastructure in the state, and in some respects, even a higher level.

Natalia Vyshegorodskaya delivered the congratulatory message on behalf of the Minister of Finance of the Sverdlovsk Region.

"For many years, Ural financiers have been developing a balanced budget policy with high professionalism, thereby contributing to the region's dynamic development," said Natalia Vyshegorodskaya. "A responsible, professional approach to work has repeatedly enabled us to overcome the most severe shocks, most recently the pandemic and sanctions."

The Deputy Minister also noted the special role of USUE in personnel matters for the Sverdlovsk Region Ministry of Finance, emphasizing that a significant number of the Ministry's employees are graduates of the Ural State University of Economics. The university's specialists, in turn, contribute by participating in the public council and various ministry commissions.

During the event, Zhanna Fritsko, First Deputy Minister of Education of the Sverdlovsk Region, noted that active work is underway to develop financial literacy at all levels of the education system, starting with kindergarten.

"Today, the Ministry of Education not only offers courses at educational institutions, but also collaborates with colleagues from the Bank of Russia, the Ministry of Finance of the Sverdlovsk Region, and other financial institutions to conduct extensive educational outreach to both children and adults," the speaker explained. "It's no secret that today, issues of people being deceived by unscrupulous citizens caught up in fraudulent schemes are at the top of the agenda not only for law enforcement agencies but also for organizations engaged in preventative activities. It's crucial for us to convey to every adult and every child how carefully and cautiously they should handle money, and how carefully and consciously they should make any financial decisions."

Olga Dikonskaya, a representative of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing for the Sverdlovsk Region, highlighted the topic of protecting the rights of financial services consumers. The expert also discussed the proper execution of loan agreements by credit institutions.

Radik Akhmetshin, Director of the Ural Office of the National Association of Securities Market Participants, discussed staffing expectations and requirements for specialists. Specifically, he pointed out that candidates are assessed not only on their professional skills but also on their reputation, which is developed, among other things, on social media.

Natalia Kovaleva, Head of the Financial Literacy Department of the Public Relations and Financial Literacy Department of the Ural Main Administration of the Bank of Russia, spoke about new forms of cyber fraud, such as "account rental" schemes, and the consequences for droppers.

Representatives of the regional office of the Russian Social Fund, the Sverdlovsk Region Prosecutor's Office, and employees of Sberbank and VTB also addressed the students and faculty.

Lectures and quizzes were devoted to financial history, phishing, and financial culture.
