Today, in the very center of Yekaterinburg, in the Historical Square, the Ural State University of Economics held the "Victory Waltz". 560 people danced: schoolchildren, students, ordinary citizens.

Participants began to gather near the Time Capsule about an hour before the event began. Each couple repeated the movements so as not to get confused during the main dance of the day. Vlad Chernavskikh, a student at the Institute of State, Municipal Administration and Law of the Ural State University of Economics, is graduating this year and has been participating in the event since his first year. The young man is not nervous at all.

"Every year the dance becomes more interesting, new movements are added. This year the event is taking place in the very center of the city, before that they danced only near the university. I like that every year the event becomes more and more large-scale," says Vlad.

Today, the "Victory Waltz" was danced by students from 12 universities, 3 technical schools and colleges of Yekaterinburg, and students from 5 Ural schools. The youngest participant was only 8 years old, the oldest - 82. Valentina Georgievna Mityukhlyaeva and Vasily Petrovich Palkin prepared for the event for more than two months, and did not miss a single rehearsal.

"I feel proud of the Victory, dancing on such a day is a great responsibility. My grandfather died near Leningrad, and he is buried there. And this waltz is in his honor too, thanks to my grandfather we are alive today," says Valentina Mityukhlyaeva, a participant in the event and a resident of Yekaterinburg.

By the start of the event, the Historical Square was packed to the brim. The Victory Waltz was opened by the rector of USUE, chairman of the Public Chamber of Yekaterinburg, Honorary Citizen of Yekaterinburg Yakov Silin and Deputy Governor – Minister of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region Tatyana Savinova.

"The symbols of the Great Victory may be different, but they are all dedicated to the victory of the great people in the Great Patriotic War. There is the Immortal Regiment march, the action is now held all over the world, and there is the Victory Waltz, our action is supported by more and more cities and states every year. I hope that the Victory Waltz will become another special tradition. We honor the memory of our ancestors, who once defended the freedom, honor, and independence of our state," noted Yakov Silin.

"Victory Waltz" in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory - a whole concert. The event began with a performance by the pupils of the military-patriotic club "Kremlin Cadets" at the Yekaterinburg Cadet Corps of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. It continued with the choreographic composition "Blue Handkerchief" by the exemplary dance theater "BOLERO +". When the "May Waltz" began to sound, the participants of the event filled the area. Deputy Governor - Minister of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region Tatyana Savinova also danced. In her busy schedule, she found only an hour for a rehearsal with her partner, the head of the choreographic studio of the USUE Alexander Pogodaev. But it seemed that Tatyana Savinova had been honing her moves for weeks.

"The Victory Waltz is a symbol of the unity of countries and peoples in the name of peace. The Victory Waltz is, of course, a tribute to the great Soviet people, the victorious people who liberated the world from the Nazis in 1945. I am sure that the genetic memory that we are all so proud of will allow our country to continue to be great," said Tatyana Savinova.
The Ural State University of Economics first held the Victory Waltz event in 2014. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the format was changed to online. Then the event became truly international. Videos were sent to the university not only from all over Russia, but also from foreign countries. Today, the event took place both offline and online. This year, dance videos were sent by residents of 86 cities in Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Venezuela.
"Victory Waltz-2025" became the largest in the history of the event. As in previous years, the USUE event was included in the citywide program of celebrating May 9.
P.S.: On the evening of May 9, 64 USUE students danced the "May Waltz" on Vainera Street in Yekaterinburg together with the employees of "Sima-land".
