The main financial university of the Urals is improving the quality of education through the development of science. This was informed in an interview with MK-Ural by Yakov Silin, who had headed Ural State University of Economics two years ago. He also told why hundreds of students were expelled from the university every year, why faculty members would be sent to factories, and what the main problem of Russian higher education was.
- Yakov Petrovich, recently USUE has celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. What other landmark events took place last year?
- There were a lot of events. We held the VIII Eurasian Economic Youth Forum. It made a quantum leap: it became all-Russian. Representatives of dozens of Russian regions and dozens of countries take part in it. More than 1,800 works and projects were presented at the forum, which were estimated by about 300 experts. It is no longer university or even regional scale of the event. Therefore, we suggested the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs take the forum under its wing. There are already some arrangements that from 2018 they would actively participate in its organization.
