In 2020, at the competition of young scientists of Russia for a commemorative N.D. Kondratieff medal, there were presented the scientific papers (cycle of works) by Ivan Aleksandrovich Antipin, Ph.D. in Economics, associate professor of the USUE Department of Regional and Municipal Economics and Management.

2020 has brought a lot of new things to our lives: from remote work and distance learning to face-mask requirements. These signs of the times can be endlessly discussed and even resisted, or one can make the best and positive out of everything. This is what, for example, Olga Zueva, head of the USUE Department of Commodity Science and Expertise, does, demonstrating a gift from her daughter: handmade gloves and a face mask.

We congratulate our students and postgraduates on the awarding of a scholarship from the Sverdlovsk Region Governor. In 2020, 15 USUE students will receive a regional award for academic and scientific achievements.

Maria Yufa, this academic year - a fourth-year student of the Institute of Trade, Food Technologies, and Services, has received two diplomas for the 12th ALL-RUSSIA CONTEST OF POETIC TRANSLATION "DIALOGUE OF CULTURES", which took place at the end of 2019: 1st place in the category "Students of non-linguistic specialties"/ "French as the second foreign language (translation from French into Russian)" and the Grand Prix of the French Embassy in Russia.

On the eve of World Tourism Day, Ural State University of Economics hosted a roundtable "The impact of digital economy on the development of the tourism, service and hospitality industry."

September 24, 2020, USUE staff involved in the Erasmus+ENTEP project delivered reports at the SATHE-2020 International Conference "Higher Education in Transition." The conference was organized online by the University of Coimbra (Portugal) as part of the ENTEP project.

On the International Day of University Sport, USUE male and female basketball players became the best in streetball competitions. The jubilee International Day of University Sport was held at Ural Federal University on September 19.

Since 2009, USUE has hosted the Eurasian Economic Youth Forum (EEYF), which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodez ), the Administration of the Sverdlovsk Region Governor, the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region, as well as with the partnership of large public associations, businessmen and officials of government bodies.

USUE hosted an online chess competition between athletes from our University, Yevpatoria, Kamensk-Uralsky, and Serov.

The Institute of Continuing Education of Ural State University of Economics began simultaneous implementation of several educational programs: Management of State and Municipal Procurement, Contract System in the Field of Procurement of Goods, Works, and Services, and An Expert in Procurement.

The company "Scientific Digital Library" (eLIBRARY) updated the science information on Russian scientific journals at the Russian Research Citation Index over 2019. All four scientific journals of Ural State University of Economics - "Journal of New Economy", "Upravlenets", "Индустрия питания | Food Industry" and "e-FORUM" - have shown improvement of indicators by results of 2019.

Within the framework of the patriotic project "Heroes Are among Us", the freshers of Ural State University of Economics met with the Hero of the Russian Federation, Colonel of the RF Armed Forces, an adviser to the USUE rector for patriotic education Sergei Voronin.

The representatives of regional branches of the Russian Union of Travel Industry from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Podolsk, Ramenskoye, Serpukhov, Izhevsk, Kaliningrad, Tyumen, and Yaroslavl, from the cities of Karelia, Crimea, and Altai met at a regional meeting of the tourist industry to discuss the prospects for their business.

September 3, a video connection was set between state economic universities of Yekaterinburg and Tashkent. An online meeting of rectors, vice-rectors, and heads of institutes and departments of the universities was dedicated to Knowledge Day and Independence Day of Uzbekistan.

The University's admissions campaign starts on June 19. Everyone wishing to enter the University must present his/her academic credentials and USE (Unified State Exam) scores. For the first timeт ever, the documents must be submitted online. The first among others to be registered as applicants will be foreign citizens who this year studied the Russian language at the USUE Faculty of Pre-university Training and at the same time were preparing to enter the University.

The 8th annual academy "I Am a Mentor" has started at Ural State University of Economics. In 2020, 111 USUE and college students will guide freshers to academic and social life. During three days, they will study the basics of psychology, analyze practical cases, and practice communication skills with students through educational modules that will be held in the format of lectures and interactive platforms.

The University's admissions campaign starts on June 19. Starting from this day, everyone can register on the University's website as applicants. USUE rector Yakov Silin made a welcoming speech to the applicants and invited them to enter one of the best universities in the country: "We will create all the necessary conditions for a favorable study within the walls of our University."

The Institute of Continuing Education of Ural State University of Economics has launched a program of advanced training courses for civil servants of customs authorities - "Implementation of financial management, internal financial control, and audit in a federal government body."

According to open data from the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AITC), for 2020 as a whole, online trading will increase and amount up to 10% of the turnover of the entire market. Roza Timakova, associate professor of the USUE Department of Food Engineering, speaks about the directions in which B2C and C2C markets are developing in Internet.

The Eurasian Economic Youth Forum means long-awaited meetings, new scientific contacts, speeches by world-famous scientists, and the first steps of college and high school students in science. Every day of the forum and every event is unforgettable for its numerous participants and guests.

The municipal competition of youth projects "Your Initiative - 2020" has been summed up. The project of a specialist of the USUE Office for Social Work Ivan Golubykh - the annual charity event "A Letter to Mom" ??– gained a victory: he won a grant from the Yekaterinburg Administration and will receive organizational support. We congratulate Ivan and wish him new victories!

July 27 at 10 a.m., for the first time USUE launched online entrance examinations. More than 300 applicants for bachelor’s programs were the first to take exams. Students working for the University Admissions Office helped applicants to connect using remote technologies through the Microsoft Teams program, and members of the examination board and admissions officers monitored compliance with the conditions for passing entrance examinations.

International cooperation is one of the priority areas of development for USUE. For many years the University has been implementing various projects aimed at strengthening international relations, and the Museum of USUE History has been arranging colorful expositions dedicated to these events.

July 10, 2020, at a meeting of the USUE Academic Council, the date, time, and place of the Conference of staff and students of Ural State University of Economics on the election of the University rector was approved: September 3, 2020 at 12.00 at auditorium No.152.

The cosmonaut of Roscosmos, Hero of Russia Anatoly Ivanishin sends greetings to USUE staff and students directly from Soyuz MS-16 crewed spacecraft wishing them success and new achievements.

We have already told you that USUE is restoring the facade of the historical building of the second academic block. Renovation works are also underway inside the University, and at an accelerated tempo. Classrooms, department offices, staff offices, and corridors are being transformed.

July 15, a regular meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee for the municipality of the Yevpatoria urban district of the Republic of Crimea was held, where the mission, strategic goal, priority areas, and tasks of the draft Strategy for the Socio-Economic Development of the Municipality until 2035 were discussed.

Students studying in the 2nd and 3rd year of the training program Tourism can take part in the dual degree program offered by Xamk University of Applied Sciences of Southeast Finland (www.xamk.fi).

Despite the current situation, USUE management decided to organize the graduation ceremony for some international students – Bachelor’s and Master’s courses graduands. The event was held with all precautionary measures. Graduands got their diplomas personally from the hands of USUE rector Yakov Silin. They were congratulated by senior staff of the University and directors of institutes and received memorable gifts.

An active preparatory work is ongoing at Ural State University of Economics to include a new master's program into the set of 2021-2022, which will be taught entirely in English.

Ural State University of Economics expresses gratitude to the Sverdlovsk regional public organization “International Union of Diasporas” for supporting foreign students of USUE during the pandemic. More than two hundred students received humanitarian assistance.

 Everyone knows how difficult it is sometimes to get a fresh bachelor's job, and even more so to get a high — paying one. However, according to the Superjob website, USUE graduates do not face this fate. Recently, the site presented a rating of universities on the level of salaries of young professionals employed in the field of Economics and Finance who graduated from the University in 2014-2019. USUE ranks 15th in the ranking of 56 universities.

USUE representatives for the fifth time participated in annual CBI (IEEE International Conference on Business Informatics), the main event in the field of business informatics research.

June 24, Russia will host a military parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in World War II. This year, due to restrictive measures related to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual solemn procession was postponed. However, the new date has important symbolic and historical significance for all Russians. It was on June 24, 1945, when, by order of Joseph Stalin, on Red Square in Moscow, the first Victory Parade was solemnly held, which became the tradition uniting the Russian people.

USUE preparatory faculty launches distance-learning courses in the Russian language.

Two days before the start of enrollment campaign 2020, Ural State University of Economics again hosted an Open Day. The online meeting with applicants and their parents was held by the USUE rector, Yakov Silin, vice-rector for Academic Affairs, Teaching Methods and Quality of Training Dmitry Karkh, and the head of the USUE Department for Admission and Pre-University Training Irina Martyanova.

Being self-isolated, it is easy to yield to temptation and spend days lying on the sofa taking walks only to the refrigerator. It has long been proven that physical exercises have a positive effect on mental abilities: the better the physical shape is, the easier it is to overcome intellectual stress; concentration increases and even the convolutions of the brain become deeper!

June 5, World Environment Day, Ural State University of Economics with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Sverdlovsk region published a collection of abstracts of research projects by young scientists of XI annual Eurasia Green international competition.
